Red Hawk Women’s Golf Club Bylaws ARTICLE I NAME and OBJECTIVE Name: The name of this organization shall be "The Red Hawk Women’s Golf Club" hereafter referred to as "The Club". Objective: The objective of The Club is to promote golf, good sportsmanship and social activities among its members.
ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP The Club shall be composed of women golfers who are members in good standing at the Private Hills Course at Red Hawk. Members should be eligible to vote at a general membership meeting or hold an office.
ARTICLE III ELECTIONS A. Method of Election of Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee shall consist of three (3) members to be appointed by the Executive Board. They shall present a slate of four (4) members at the General Membership Meeting (date to be determined). The Nominating Committee will then elect their Chairman. No member of the Nominating Committee may run for election to the Executive Board. B. Method of Election of Officers: It shall be the duty of the Nominating Committee to make nominations for Captain, Co-Captain, Secretary and Treasurer. The Nominating Committee Chairman shall read and post the slate of the nominees four (4) weeks prior to the next General membership Meeting (date to be determined). If there is a slate of officers opposing the slate nominated by the Nominating Committee, or, if there are nominations from the floor taken at this time, with the nominee’s prior consent, the election shall be by ballot or show of hands. The elected officers will assume duties after the General Membership Meeting in the Fall or no later than December 31st. C. Officer’s Eligibility: A member must have served on the Board of Directors for one year to be elected Captain. In order to serve on the Board of Directors, an eligible member must be available to attend the majority of the Board Meetings.
ARTICLE IV THE EXECUTIVE BOARD The Executive Board shall be composed of the elected officers of The Club. These officers shall be Captain, Co-Captain, Secretary and Treasurer. 1. Captain – The Captain shall preside at all meetings of The Club. She shall, with the approval of the Executive Board, appoint the chairs of the Standing Committees and all Special Committees. She shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee and shall act in the absence of the Treasurer. She shall have the authority to call special Board Meetings at her discretion with a quorum. She shall be an ex-officio member of the incoming Executive Board after her term expires. 2. Co-Captain – The Co-Captain shall perform the duties of the Captain in her absence or inability to serve. She shall serve as chair of any other committee as desired. 3. Secretary – The Secretary shall keep records of all meetings of The Club and of all Executive Board and Board of Director Meetings. She shall keep an active membership list and mail such notices to members as directed by the Board. She shall post the General membership Meeting minutes. She shall conduct the official correspondence of The Club as directed by the Captain. 4. Treasurer – The Treasurer shall collect dues for each year and shall be Custodian of the general funds of The Club. She shall deposit such funds in a designated bank, keep a full and accurate account of all receipts and disbursements in books belonging to The Club and pay all debts approved by the Board of Directors. Special Committee Chairs shall be accountable to her for any funds expended.
ARTICLE V BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors shall be composed of the Executive Board and the Chairs of the Standing Committees appointed by the Captain with the approval of the Executive Board. These Chairs shall include: 1. Membership Committee 2. Awards Chair 3. Handicap Chair 4. Tournament Chair 5. Nine Hole Chair 6. Rules Chair 7. Team Play Chair 8. Newsletter/Historian Chair 9. Hospitality/Welcoming Chair 10. Sunday Couples Event Chair 11. Nominating Committee Chair
ARTICLE VI MEETINGS A. Meetings: There shall be a minimum of one (1) monthly meeting of the Board of Directors. Special meetings of the Executive Board and Committee Chairs shall be held as requested by the Captain. General Membership Meetings shall be called a minimum of bi-annually, Spring and Fall, or as posted. B. Quorum: 1. Executive Board: A quorum shall consist of three (3) Executive Board members in attendance. 2. Board of Directors: A quorum shall consist of a majority of all members of the Board of Directors. 3. General Membership: A quorum shall consist of one-fourth (1/4) of the members eligible to vote.
ARTICLE VII DUES and FINANCE A. Dues: The Board of Directors will recommend annual dues for active membership, dues and payable by (date to be determined) of each year. Any member whose dues are not paid by (date to be determined) will be ineligible to play in any event and will not be a member in good standing of The Club. B. Fiscal Year: The fiscal year of The Club shall begin on January 1st.
ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS and RULES OF ORDER A. Review and Amendments: These Bylaws may be subject to review every year by a committee appointed by the Captain. They may be amended at any General Membership Meeting by two thirds (2/3) of the membership present and they may also be amended by electronic voting (e-mail) outside of a scheduled membership meeting by two thirds (2/3) of the members. The changes must be posted for 30 days on the bulletin board prior to said meeting and/or distributed to members before an electronic vote. B. Rules of Order: Robert’s Rules of Order shall be the parliamentary authority unless otherwise specifically covered by these Bylaws. All policies not outlined in these Bylaws shall be left to the discretion of the Board of Directors whose decisions shall be based upon recommendations of the Northern Nevada Women’s Golf Association and the United States Golf Association rules.
Red Hawk Women's Golf Club Standing Rules T he Red Hawk Women’s Golf Club will meet on Thursday mornings and monthly Saturdays for tournament play, and once a month for Couples Sunday play. Players are requested to be at the club thirty (30) minutes prior and on the tee ten (10) minutes prior to play or tee time. Shotgun times or Tee times will be posted. Tee times will be adhered to.General Event Guidelines: A. Stroke play requires completion of every hole. Disqualification my result if the ball is picked up. If you pick up, follow the instructions for posting incomplete holes. B. If you are not signed up for a game on a day of play, check with the Golf Shop for any cancellations or openings. C. Score Cards: 1) One legible, first and last name per card plus GHIN numbers (Except for team play, below) 2) Team Events: First and last names, GHIN number and handicap of each player. 3) Scorecards should be exchanged with another member of your group prior to beginning of play. 4) All score cards must be dated, signed and attested. D. Tee times: 1). Call Golf Shop or sign up directly after Ladies Day play on Thursday or Saturday; or up to two weeks in advance. 2). No 5-somes. 3). Tee times and/or shotgun start times on play days could vary by the month. Check your tournament calendar. 4). Golf mentors are designated with an "M" following their name. Sign up with these members who are familiar with the course and the club, and they will be happy to orient you or help you improve your game. E. Eligibility: 1). Participants in Red Hawk Women’s Golf Club events must be a member of The Private Club at Red Hawk and must have an established handicap to be determined by the holding of a current USGA Handicap Card, or an attested letter from a Head Professional. 2). Ladies desiring to establish a handicap at Red Hawk, must turn in five (5) 18-hold score cards with their gross score to the Handicap Chair. Play cards are acceptable from play at other courses for the purpose of establishing a handicap. 3). During the period of establishing a handicap, the Head Professional may give players a trend handicap in order to be able to participate in events and be eligible for prizes. Members playing without a handicap or trend are not eligible for prizes except on holes that are designated as open to all (i.e. closest to the hole, least putts, etc.) 4). Couples play is social and all members are encouraged to play. Newcomers are invited to play with Board members and Golf Mentors. 5). Club Championship eligibility: In addition to the general eligibility guidelines, these awards are restricted to members who have participated in a minimum of five (5) 18-hole red Hawk Women’s Golf Club events (either Thursday or Saturday individual formats) ten (10) 9-hole events, or a combination of the two. F. Golf Activities: Competitions shall be based on USGA Rules except when modified by the Local Rules at Red Hawk. An established maximum USGA handicap index of 40.4 will be allowed for all tournaments unless otherwise posted. G. Tournaments: 1). All tournaments will be governed by USGA Rules and handled by the Tournament Chair. Local rules will be posted. 2). The USGA Rules of Golf regarding scores turned in on cards will guide the disqualification of a contestant. 3). If the course is open, there will be a tournament if already scheduled. If a participant is unable to play, the Golf Shop and the remainder of the foursome, shall be notified, otherwise, the non-playing participant shall be in default. 4). The Tournament Chair, Rules Chair and the Head Professional will decide cancellation of a scheduled tournament event. Each player is responsible to call the Golf Shop to determine if an event is cancelled. 5). The Awards Chair shall present a list of major tournament prizes to the Board of Directors for approval before purchase. 6). The executive Board shall decide the format of the major tournaments after presentation by the Tournament chair. 7). Major tournaments scores shall be posted as a "T" score. The Tournament Chair has the option to past all participant scores or to verify their accurate posting after the event. 8). Team Play Qualifying Thursday Events will be considered a major tournament and therefore, results shall be posted as a "T" score. 9). Other Thursday/Saturday events will be considered regular play days and do not require a "T" score posting. It is the option of the event chair to decide who should post the scores into GHIN—either the participant or the Handicap Chair. 10). Scorecards should be noted after scores have been adjusted (if appropriate) and posted into GHIN. H. Miscellaneous: 1). If, at any time, a player is unable to play, she must notify the Golf Shop and the remainder of her group. 2). If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it will allow the match following to play through. 3). On Thursday, the 9-Hole group must follow the field. 4). The dress code of the Red Hawk Women’s Golf Club shall be the same as that of The Private Club at Red Hawk. These Standing Rules may be amended at any General Membership Meeting by a majority of those members present and eligible to vote. |
